Suwun Thai Home Cooking | Our Story

Our Story

Suwun Thai Home Cooking is a heartfelt new addition to the Albany dining scene, bringing the warmth of traditional Thai family recipes to the neighborhood. After a successful 15-years run operating multiple Thai restaurants in New York City, our chef decided to return to their roots, inspired by the simple yet flavorful dishes passed down through generations. Suwun Thai Home Cooking is all about sharing the authentic taste of home-cooked Thai meals, prepared with love and care, to create a dining experience that feels like family. We’re excited to open our doors and serve the beautiful Albany community.
Where Our Name Began

Where Our Name Began

Our restaurant carries a name close to our hearts, chosen in honor of the chef's mother. The recipes we cook are the ones our family has made for years, passed from one generation to the next. When we opened here, we wanted to share that same table with our Albany neighbors. Everything starts with those family dishes, cooked slowly and with care, just as we remember them at home. This is where our story begins, in a kitchen full of tradition and the flavors we grew up loving
A Journey From Brooklyn

A Journey From Brooklyn

After 15 years running a Thai restaurant in Brooklyn, our chef brought years of experience, dedication, and a deep connection to Thai cooking to Albany. Along the way, those years shaped a passion for sharing authentic family recipes while creating a welcoming place for the community. Today, Suwun Thai Home Cooking reflects that journey—bringing together cherished traditions, familiar flavors, and the warmth of a home-cooked meal.

What matters most to us is simple: honest food and a warm welcome. We cook traditional Thai home recipes because they are the ones we know best and love to share.
