The Story Behind Mother Suwun's Kitchen

The Story Behind Mother Suwun's Kitchen

Our restaurant carries a name close to our hearts. Suwun Thai Home Cooking is named in honor of the chef's mother, and her spirit lives in the traditional, comforting family recipes we serve every day. Owner-chef Saner Wongjansri brings deep experience to the table, having run a successful restaurant in Brooklyn for 15 years before bringing these treasured recipes here. Every dish is a way of sharing that family tradition with you.

Thai Ingredient Glossary

Thai Ingredient Glossary

Thai cooking gets its magic from fresh, fragrant ingredients. Here are a few you will hear about often. Galangal: a root related to ginger, with a sharp, citrusy, peppery note. Lemongrass: a fragrant stalk that adds bright, lemony freshness. Holy Basil: a peppery, aromatic basil often used in stir-fries. Kaffir Lime Leaves: glossy leaves that give soups and curries a distinct citrus aroma. We will keep adding to this glossary so you can explore the flavors behind our dishes.
